Area Rugs In A Nursery

If you want to add a new layer of texture to your baby’s nursery, consider adding an area rug.  By adding area rugs to a child’s nursery, you add a layer of texture and warmth to their space.  You can just imagine yourself nestled in a cozy rocking chair in the corner while your toes are curled up cozily in a large rug at your feet.  Large rugs make a real impact in a small space, so find a color or pattern that you love and it is sure to look great.

Depending upon the color of the room, you have plenty of options to choose from.  You can choose an area rug to coordinate with the baby’s furniture or one to match your wall color.  If you have artwork already on the walls, you can use the art to serve as the inspiration for your carpeting choice.  A great way to pick a color for your area rug is to look closely at your artwork.  If you pick out a color that is represented on the walls of your baby’s room you can use that as your color choice for your carpeting.  By repeating the same color you are able to tie your wall decor into your choice of floor covering.  This gives the nursery a look of continuity.  Many decorators use this decorator’s trick and there is no reason why you can not do the same.  Even home stagers utilize the artwork trick when they are choosing area rugs.  Another option is to match your floor covering to your lamps.  If you have a tall floor lamp with a particular color shade you can use that tone as your starting point for your area rug choice.  Even a table lamp can act as inspiration.  Match the color of the base and you have an instant hit on your hands.
