Homemade Ways to Whiten Teeth

Many people dread having to go to the dentist and for good reason-not only will that visit require money but it is downright scary! For major oral problems like teeth extraction and the like, visiting the dentist is a must. For more minor problems like stained teeth though, you really don’t have to spend much money. Why, there are many homemade ways to whiten teeth. Consider a few:

Getting the right diet is one of them. Fruits like lemons, apples and strawberries are known for their bleaching ability. Here’s how to use them:

For lemons- make some concentrated lemon juice and use it as mouthwash
For Apples- eat an apple after every meal
For strawberries- mash some strawberries and rub on your teeth

Whenever you use any of the above, make sure to rinse your mouth well afterward. Leaving them on your teeth for a long time can damage your teeth enamel and even cause discoloration. Also don’t use the mentioned more than twice a day.

Another natural method to get your teeth whites may seem questionable at first. Ash is a good abrasive and will scrub your teeth clean of plaque. Simply dab your toothbrush in some fresh wood ash and brush. Then brush your teeth with your usual toothpaste and rinse well. Do this once or twice a day.

There are also chemical solutions you have around your home that you can use for whiter teeth. Sodium bicarbonate or Baking soda is one of them. Use this like you would with ash. Then there is the less popular hydrogen peroxide which you can dilute with water and use as a mouthwash. Make sure you use the 3% concentration of H2O2 for this. Or you could use both baking soda and hydrogen peroxide by making a paste out of them and adding a little mint essence.

Homemade ways to whiten teeth are becoming more popular and many can attest to their efficacy. You don’t have to spend money, look around your home and be innovative.

Teeth Whitening Tips

Teeth whitening procedures can be done for most people who desire brighter teeth. There is a method to meet every budget. However, it should be kept in mind that miracles will not occur. Teeth whitening will not give you teeth like a movie star. Genetics has a lot to do with the whitening process. If your family history does not have people with really white teeth, do not expect to have them. The teeth whitening process will be able to, in most cases, to make teeth a couple of shades lighter.

Bleaching the teeth can be carried out at the dentist's office, if you wish to invest the funds. Otherwise, over the counter kits can be purchased at retail establishments or online. Bleaching means that the whitening process is attempting to make the teeth whiter than their natural color. This can be done by bleaching, but it must be followed up on a regular basis in order for the teeth not to return to their present shade.

Teeth whitening is sometimes referred to as other procedures, that do not include bleaching. Laser teeth whitening is another type of procedure that can effectively whiten your teeth. This is a more realistic process because this method is only trying to restore the teeth to their natural color. Since your natural color is the goal, this aim is more reasonably attainable.

It might be less expensive to start with an over the counter whitening kit. You can help the process along by not drinking too much coffee and smoking. Both of these activities discolor teeth. Keep in mind as you get older your teeth lose their brightness. There is nothing much to be done about this. What you eat too, can determine the shade of your teeth.

Changing the color of your teeth will not get you the raise you want or help to win the lottery. If brightening your teeth will make you feel more confident, by all means go ahead and try it.
