Useful Ways to Store Toys – Toy Chests

When you think of toy storage, what do you think of?  Most people don't think about it at all until they get tired of stepping on small toys.  Then, it's a quick trip to the store to get something, anything to stash those toys in.  There are so many different options to choose from.  How do they decide on toy chests?

Toy chests have a long history of being the storage option of choice for most people.  However, most families did not own one until the 20th century.  It wasn't until the industrial revolution and the introduction of mass production that it became possible for most children to have multiple toys.  Then, they needed a place to keep those toys that was affordable for their parents to buy.  The toy box was then created, made safe, and marketed to the masses everywhere.

However, toy chests are not for everyone.  They are very useful, don't get me wrong.  But what often ends up happening is the smaller toys sink to the bottom.  Then, kids have to dig through to find the toy that they really want.  So the toys all get dumped out, which means they all have to be picked up again.  It can become a major pain.

A better option is to use a toy box for just large toys.  Smaller toys can be sorted using bins, shelves, or a toy bin organizer.  This can make it easier for your child to find what he or she wants.
